Une nouvelle adaptation du manga « City Hunter » (« Nicky Larson ») verra prochainement le jour sur Netflix.

Après One Piece et My Hero Academia, Netflix va adapter un nouveau manga culte. Un long métrage inspiré de City Hunter (disponible aux éditions Panini Manga) de Tsukasa Hojo vient en effet d’entrer en production, pour une diffusion prévue sur la plateforme courant 2024.

City Hunter suit les aventures du « nettoyeur » Ryo Saeba, opérant dans le quartier de Shinjuku à Tokyo. Homme d’action doublé d’un obsédé sexuel, ce dernier fait équipe avec Kaori Makimura, la sœur cadette de son ancien partenaire exécuté par un cartel de drogue.

En France, la série a été diffusée sous le titre Nicky Larson, et a fait l’objet de censure et d’une traduction remaniée pour gommer le caractère sulfureux de l’oeuvre. Ce qui n’a toutefois pas empêché pas à l’anime de rencontrer un immense succès dans nos contrées !

Ironiquement, ce nouveau film City Hunter marquera la toute première adaptation du manga en langue japonaise. Auparavant, deux autres longs métrages ont vu le jour : Niki Larson (1993) avec Jackie Chan, une comédie d’action peu fidèle à l’œuvre d’origine, et Nicky Larson et le parfum de Cupidon (2019), de et avec Philippe Lacheau.

Le film City Hunter produit par Netflix sera réalisé par Yuichi Sato, avec Ryohei Suzuki dans le rôle de l’iconique Ryo Saeba.

Source link Netflix recently announced the production of a new live-action television adaptation of the classic manga series Nicky Larson. The series will not, however, be a sequel or feature Philippe Lacheau in any way.

Since its inception in 1979, Nicky Larson has become a staple of the manga and anime world. Following the adventures of the high-flying private detective, Nicky has accumulated a large and dedicated following over the years.

The announcement of a new Netflix adaptation has been met with both excitement and trepidation from fans. The news, however, that the series will not be a sequel to the 2018 film directed by Philippe Lacheau has quelled fears that the series will deviate too far from its source material. While the recent film adaptation was successful, the departure from the original manga and anime has left some fans uneasy.

Netflix, however, has been no stranger to success and attempted to remain true to the source material with carefully crafted adaptations such as ‘Death Note’ and ‘Castlevania’. The streaming giant has also brought aboard a talent roster sure to please fans, with director Philippe Torreton, composer Jean-Michel Bernard, and screenwriter Katsuro Ono helming the production.

The promise of both a fresh and faithful interpretation of Nicky Larson is certainly something to get excited about. After decades in which the series has gone largely untouched, it’s safe to say that this upcoming project will be something special. Though the absence of Philippe Lacheau may be a disappointment for some, the return of Nicky Larson and the promise of a new production from Netflix will hopefully be enough to satisfy the fans.
