DESPERATE STOWAWAYS Shocking pics show 20 migrants including kids hiding under boards of TRAILER to try and sneak into US
BORDER agents in Texas found 20 undocumented migrants hiding under the boards of a trailer on Monday – including two minors.
Chief Patrol Agent Austin Skero shared shocking photos of the 18 adults and two kids who were attempting to enter the US from Mexico at the southern border.
One image showed bags and items that were stacked over the boards to cover up the individuals hiding underneath.
Skero said the children involved are aged 10 and 15, but didn’t note if they were alone or accompanied by adults such as their parents on the journey.
A Del Rio Sector K9 was the first to let the agents know about the trailer at a checkpoint, according to Daily Mail.
“With temperatures on the rise, smuggling attempts like these have a high potential to turn deadly,” Skero said.
The discovery comes amidst an increase in migrants attempting to cross the border into the US in recent months.
Customs and Border Protection said in a recent report that over 170,000 migrants came to the border in March, up about 70 percent from February.
That includes 18,890 unaccompanied minors who came from Central America at the Southwest border, 100 per cent more than in February, the report noted.
One Congressman, Steve Scalise, brought a milk carton with the words “Missing at the border” and VP Harris’ image on it to a press conference on Wednesday.
Biden put his Vice President in charge of handling what the White House says are the "root causes" of the crisis, so some critics are concerned that she has not yet visited the southern border to address the challenges there.
But during a Zoom meeting with experts on the Northern Triangle — the Central American countries of Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador — VP Harris said Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is in charge of child migrant camps and the crisis at the border to Mexico.
“The President has asked Secretary Mayorkas to address what is going on at the border,” Harris said.
“I have been asked to address the root causes.”
When previously questioned about when she plans to visit the US/Mexico border, Harris replied, “Not today, but I have before and I’m sure I will again.”
Scalise said of what he feels is President Biden’s inaction on the issue, “He can stop this today,” before adding, “Vice President Harris needs to go down to the border and see this for herself.”
